Sarangani Tour | SoCCSKSarGen Travel Guide

Also a part of the Region XII, this locale is where the famed SarBay fest is being held. Though I haven’t attended such, I heard and read pleasant reviews about the event.

This place surprised me as there are numerous barkada activities that can be done. And I mean, these  are exhilarating and not your usual stuff.

JUMP-OFF POINT

From Manila, the nearest jump off point is at General Santos. From there, other provinces are at least 1.5 hours away.

We hired a local tour driver/guide to tour us around the SoCCSKSarGen region, transportation included.

WHAT WE DID

We were realy in awe of all the adventurous activities you can do in this province. Who knew that Mindanao has its own hidden gem?

Oh, now we do! 🙂

Spots to visit:

White Water River Tubing
If water rafting is done with a rubber boat to which can be ridden by 4-6 people, Maitum river tubing’s version is for a person to ride an old school salbabida to which is somewhat attached to another salbabida ridden by a rafting guide.

I find it actually clever and a cheaper alternative for rubber boats. It’s like water rafting but way cooler!

Resting for a while after conquering the first part of the raging waters.

Gumasa Beach
Situated in Glan which is at the far end of Sarangani. With its white sand (long stretch) beach, one can truly find peace of mind as this island offers isolation and very much away from the crowd.

Gumasa Beach is also the venue for the annual SarBay Fest being held every month of May.

2a

Dive at Lemlunay Resort
Now, this is all our first time…and we chose to do it in Sarangani Bay!

Well, it started out as a challenge plus the intro dive experience package in Lemlunay Resort is cheap (at P1,500/head for a 30-minute dive with diving gears).

After diving, we were amazed on how rich the marine biodiversity of Sarangani Bay is. Serves right to be one of the best diving spots in the country.

WHERE WE STAYED

We stayed overnight in Glan Training Center which is just near the plaza.

FOOD RECOMMENDATIONS

Native Tinola – Nothing beats a homemade dish using a native chicken. It tastes better and tastier. And oh, the food is enough for 5 people too.

TRAVEL TIPS

• Ensure to have your waterproof camera ready especially on the river tubing and diving activities.

• Bring extra clothes during these activities as you will surely get wet.

• Don’t forget to tip your tubing guides, it is a minimal cost for taking good care of you during the activity.
